The content multiplier strategy is all about leveraging a central idea or piece of content and reworking it into multiple formats for different platforms. The goal? Reach more people with less effort by maximizing the potential of one solid idea.

For example, take this blog you are reading right now This topic didn’t actually start as a blog. The topic was first explored as a video. Let’s break our process down. 

Turning One Video Into Ten (or More) Pieces of Content

  1. The Idea: This all starts with a great idea that is expanded into a video plan.  
  2. Full-Length Video on YouTube: The first piece of content is a full-length video uploaded to YouTube.
  3. YouTube Shorts: We’ll then cut this video into bite-sized YouTube Shorts, taking snippets of key points. Shorts are incredibly popular and help reach a wider audience with less commitment required on their part. One of our full-length videos typically creates four or five shorts!
  4. Social Media Posts: Every single short can be shared across various social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. We also create social media posts to promote the longer video or the blog post.
  5. Blog Post: A blog (like this one) is a perfect way to repurpose video content. Whether you’re using generative AI or working with a copywriter (we use a combination of the two), translating video into a written blog allows you to reach a different audience segment.
  6. Email Marketing: Once the blog is published, you can share it through email newsletters, reaching your subscribers directly in their inboxes.

Did you see that? We just took one idea and transformed it into over a dozen marketing touchpoints using the content multiplier strategy!

Still Not Done—Even More Ways to Multiply Your Content

What’s incredible about the content multiplier strategy is that the possibilities are endless. We are aware that we haven’t come close to multiplying the content we create. Here are some additional ways we “multiply” content in the future. 

  • Podcasts: The audio from our video can easily be repurposed into a podcast episode, allowing people to listen on the go.
  • Webinars: Running a live webinar and then turning that content into videos, blogs, and more is another way to maximize the impact of your efforts.
  • Guest Blogs: You can also take a piece of content and expand on it in guest blog posts for other websites in complementary industries, linking back to your original video or post.
  • White Papers or E-books: For deeper topics, consider creating long-form content like white papers or e-books. This is perfect for repurposing into infographics, social media graphics, and more.

Content Multiplier in Action: Start Small, Think Big

Getting started is the hardest part. Instead of staring at an empty calendar, think about one major topic or idea. From there, brainstorm how you can stretch that idea across multiple platforms and formats.
