Objections: Web Development Is Too Expensive

This might surprise you. Not every prospective client we talk to immediately purchases a service. Shocking right? For that reason, we decided to dedicate a portion of our website to discuss some of the most common objections we hear and how we address them. Let’s start with the big one…

Web Development is Too Expensive!

Price is perhaps the most common objection that we receive. So, let’s dive into the objections we receive and how we respond. We’ve received a variety of objections including the process being too confusing or there being too many options. For whatever doubts or objections you may have, please let us share some insight into how our team takes care of our clients through the process.

Building a website is too expensive.

First, let me validate that objection. Building a website that is created to address your organization’s goals and ethos is expensive and the decision to do so is not one that should be undertaken lightly. Learn about the pricing for Spring Insight. The resources that go into the process, both from a financial and time perspective, can’t just be dismissed. The question that we ask our prospective clients in response is, how much will it cost you not to focus on your website and current web development?

Typically, by the time an organization is starting to think about redoing their website, the site is dated. Perhaps it no longer represents the size and scale of the organization. Perhaps it just looks a bit tired. If your ideal client went to your website, are you confident they would get the answers they want to confidently move forward with engaging your services? Can you afford not to make sure that your website is up to date, strategic, and compelling?

I never get any leads from my website. Shouldn’t I spend my budget elsewhere?

We work with professional service organizations and other subject matter experts. Most of our prospective clients aren’t winning work based solely on their website. But, the question we like to ask is, even if you aren’t winning clients based on your website, are you sure you aren’t losing them? Let’s say a client of yours tells a friend how awesome your company is. They go to your website to check you out. Your ability to convert that client may well now be at the mercy of their opinion of your website. Are you confident in that position?

A functional, attractive, and compelling website is your most valuable marketing asset. Web development is also an important investment that can be converted into future leads and other marketing goals!

What about hidden costs I don’t know about.

If you are making the investment in web development, you want to make sure that you know just how much that investment will be. There is nothing worse than being surprised with extra, unexpected “surprises” once the website build process has started.

That is why at Spring Insight, we work carefully with our prospective clients to fully understand the project before we begin. Our projects are billed on a fixed price basis and are built to be inclusive of all known expenses.

Sometimes, during the course of a project, a client will identify a need or desire that wasn’t accounted for from the start. When that happens, there might be a change in pricing, but the process is fully transparent, and no changes are made to the project scope without the explicit approval of the client.

What about website maintenance costs?

Once you build a fancy new website, you want to make sure that it stays up to date (both on the frontend and back), that plugins are updated regularly, and that it is backed up and secure. For that reason, Spring Insight offers a range of maintenance plans based on the size, complexity, and security needs of your organization. Not sure you need a maintenance plan? Our experience suggests you are wrong.

There is no guarantee of success.

Building a new website can feel a bit like jumping off the high dive. You know there is water down there, but it doesn’t make it feel any less risky. What is the key to making it feel less risky? An experienced web development partner that works with you from the start to truly understand your needs, your organizational ethos, and the business atmosphere where you operate.

There are no guarantees in life. But working with the right partner, one with a track record of success, and a deep interest in making sure your project is built to meet your specific goals, is definitely a big step in the right direction.

Building a new website isn’t going to be the right answer for every organization. Even more particularly, building a website with Spring Insight certainly won’t be the right answer for everyone. But, for those that are ready, we are a great option. Think you might be? Let’s set up a time to discuss.
